Remy Schwab

Postdoctoral Researcher

Seoul National University

Intro

Following his Bachelor’s degree, Remy began his work in bioinformatics in the lab of Dr. Patrick Cahan where he used machine learning and RNA sequencing to assess how well engineered cells resemble their natural counterparts. After a brief stint working in industry doing cancer genomics, he did his Master’s thesis at Johns Hopkins where he researched pathogen diagnosis using sequencing data and met a young, doe-eyed Martin (before he was famous). After another industry position and a quarter-life crisis, Remy moved to Berlin to do his PhD in the lab of Dr. Knut Reinert where he developed an algorithm for detecting conserved motifs in large sequence databases. One day, Remy hopes to stop expanding his horizons and experiencing new cultures to focus on his mother’s dreams of him getting a “real job”.

Interests

Remy’s interests lie at the intersection of efficient algorithms, protein design, immunology, and horror movies.
